This comparison map makes it possible to track the advance of the lignite mine excavation fronts near Elsdorf in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The comparison was made possible thanks to two Sentinel-2 scenes, one from August 2022 and the other from August 2016. The drought affecting Europe in the summer of 2022 is also immediately visible.
