Geographic information falls within the UNINFO regulations

Finally we have the regulatory process to describe the new professional figures in the geographic information sector has been definitively concluded.

A few months ago, in fact, the publication on the RNDT website of the news that is it is possible to obtain the text of the standard UNI 11621-5:2018:

Activities non-regulated professionals - Professional profiles for ICT - Part 5: Professional profiles relating to geographical information

This rule, which came into force on 26 April 2018, defines 4 professional profiles in the IG sector:

  • Geographic Information Officer (responsible for geographical information), professional figure responsible for managing the activities, people and overall resources of an organisation's GIS and IDT structure;
  • GeoData Analyst (geodata analyst), professional figure expert in the processes, methodologies and technologies of acquisition and manipulation of geospatial data;
  • Geographic Information Technician/Specialist (Geographic information technician/specialist), professional figure expert in the most common processing of geographical information;
  • Geographic Knowledge Enabler (geographical knowledge facilitator), professional figure expert in spatial literacy and methodologies for the development of spatial thinking  and geo-digital skills.

The entry into force of this legislation, among other things, aligns these new figures with those already regulated and foreseen by the AGID Guidelines for participation in public tenders and tenders.
