I think I am among the few if not the only one who was not scandalized by the events in Rome this week. Mafia Capitale is not the only case of corruption in politics and unfortunately it will not be the last one.
I think we've lost the sense of what it is. politics. Politics is an action at the service of the citizen and not at the service of a well-known few. I don't remember when it was it was the last time that politics in Italy produced something useful for the citizen; checché Renzi says so!
The politician and politics are at the service of the citizen. When we go to vote we delegate, with our vote, someone to decide for us. We are trusting someone, we are telling him to manage our interests and those of future generations. The vote is not an X and a name on a ballot paper! And’ something much more noble and profound! And’ a responsibility that we will take!
If you accept that the politician of the moment will come knocking at your house to ask for your vote, making promises and perhaps leaving you a little of money then you deserve to be governed by those who, once they occupy the seat, look after their interests and no longer your! You deserve that politician!
The politician must remember that it is a direct employee of the citizens, primarily those who voted for him. As a direct employee of the citizens, he must ALWAYS be accountable to the citizens for this. which he does because he administers the res publica not the res private. And’ was appointed by citizens to take charge of activities that citizens cannot do for the most various reasons; it is not been elected leader or king, he does not make autarkic decisions.
You are lost the sense of what it is politics and the first to have lost it are we citizens, we voters. This too is question of culture, the culture of convenience! It's convenient for us and there is we agreed to look the other way, to look first at our interests rather than at the common good without understanding that, trivially,if everyone is well, I'm well too. Instead, from the economic boom of the 1960s to today we have sat back, calm in the fact that we no longer had to worry about nothing and instead it's there which is bad administration was born in Italy, it is from there that politics is went from an action in favor of citizens to one in favor of a few.
